So for awhile I’ve seen numerous blogs using the Disqus commenting platform and I actually liked how it was setup and stuff, I would leave comments on these blogs to test the commenting system out. I think it was about 7 years ago that I tried to install the Disqus plugin for WordPress and it was just not working at all, and I even contacted the Disqus support and they said sometimes it takes awhile to get setup.
The real reason I don’t want to use Disqus is because you need to create an account to leave a comment. That filters out so many possible people that could be leaving a comment on my blog. I don’t want them to have usernames, I just want any kind of person to have the ability to leave a comment on my blog. Comments are content too, they get indexed with Google. So that’s why I stick to the default WordPress commenting system and keep everything as simple as possible.
Despite all that, if I really cared about people making actual accounts to be able to comment I would use Disqus, and I actually recommend trying the plugin out a little bit if you haven’t done so yet. Though it might take awhile to setup. I’m not sure how it works, but I am just sticking to what I am used to.
