This is a serious problem in WordPress. The last WordPress blog of mine that became auccessful, was using the “Day and Name” setting in the Permalinks setup. Well, that site was still successful I guess I can say, getting over 30,000 hits per month eventually. But, I still think I should of enabled this option in WordPress instead of using the default option. The question remains on why WordPress continues to use the Plain option as default for all WordPress blogs?. Clearly, Post Name is way better for SEO right?. Well, it has been recommended for years now, but WordPress still chooses a different option when you setup a new WordPress blog. I hate it.
But anyways, all we can do is change the option every time we start a new WordPress blog, to Post Name. That’s what I do every time, and it’s what you should do every time as well. The most important thing to think about right now is, which permalink structure is best for you if you are just starting out in blogging. If you already have a successful blog and your permalink structure is different than Post Name, then I dont recommend changing it because this could cause you to lose a lot of traffic from your site. This is a lot like changing the URL of your site to every link on your site, making every visitor to your website get redirected to a 404 error page on your site.
So yeah, think about it, and let me know what you end up doing, in the comments below. Make sure to Like, Subscribe, and Share this article with all your social media. Cheers and hope you have a great rest of your day.
