I have been experiencing this problem for years, and below you will see a picture of a video “buffering” for on and on, all for some stupid reason we can’t explain. I’ve had videos streaming just fine in Firefox before, so I made the switch for many reasons… and I thought it was a smart move. But, I was wrong. Read below to see more about this.
I cannot explain why Firefox does this, and it always works fine for YouTube, no problem. But anyways I will cut to the chase. Yes, below is another image to show you that playing videos on Firefox really sucks for compatibility.
I tried using a different browser just to troubleshoot, and the results were amazing. You see below, the browser I chose to try was Chromium, which is where Google Chrome originated from (I think, but do some research on that and don’t quote me on that). Anyways, Chrome always has worked AWESOME for playing videos. And uhh, those videos I won’t mention, play really well!. Below I played a video on Vimeo, just to show you that it was not buffering in any way, it was buttery smooth.
Like I said, I can’t explain why this browser issue is a problem between using Firefox and Chrome. But, the best browser for privacy would be Firefox, and the best browser for playing videos is Chromium, in Ubuntu that is, for the time being. I really hope Mozilla (the creator of Firefox) makes some improvements.
P.S., while searching for something to link people to buy on Amazon, I found a movie called “Firefox”!, it’s got Clint Eastwood in it. Filmed in 1982, so it may be too old for your eyes if you weren’t born before that. Check out the movie here on Amazon for $2.99 USD!.
