You wouldn’t think this would be possible but, it is, and it’s happened to me. So anyways, here’s two plugins that I use and have used in the past as well to stop the bad guys from getting in. You can find some books on WordPress here through our affiliate link here, and I may earn a commission from what ever you may buy.
1.
WPS Hide Login
This plugin simply changes the path to where you login to, which by default is yourwebsite.com/wp-admin, so instead of that you can change it to what ever you want. I highly recommend doing this as soon as you start your blog so nothing happens to it. Simply do a Plugin search for the given name of this plugin and you will find it. I think it’s one of the most popular plugins that you can use for this purpose. Below you will see a screenshot of the settings for this plugin and as you can tell it integrates itself into the General settings in the Settings menu. It is very easy to find this in your WP Dashboard.
2.
Limit Login Attempts Reloaded
Here’s a plugin that goes along great with WPS Hide Login and is essential for your blog’s survival. Basically if someone knocks on your virtual door more than a few times, they are kicked out… if that makes sense. It’s a really good tool for a WordPress blog and is used by over two million WordPress sites currently.
3.
Jetpack
Lastly, the last plugin I’ll recommend for you to install will not only help you protect your site but it can do much more than that too. This plugin has “Brute Force Attack Protection” and so much more, too many features to list, it is like an all-in-one plugin for many different things, but the Brute Force Attack Protection is the main one you want. You can read about the other features here.
Once your blog is making money, I definitely recommend upgrading to Jetpack Premium or what ever it’s called. I am not upgraded now obviously because I’m not making any money at the moment, but in the future I may come back to this post and add some affiliate links. You can also back up your site using Jetpack, which is a really important one.
Conclusion
Anyways, I hope this article helped you protect your blog and hope you recommend this article to all your friends who own WordPress sites and are trying to make money from their sites. Don’t forget to share on your social media as well.
