Tecno Mobile hosted a webinar yesterday to announce that it is collaborating with Samsung to develop an RGBW camera sensor for future smartphones.
The RGBW colour filter is the key feature of Samsung’s ISOCELL GWB, which was briefly discussed on stage.
The new 64MP sensor incorporates a white sub-pixel inside the red, green, and blue array, resulting in greater light sensitivity and low-light performance.
In 2022, it will most likely launch on a Tecno phone.
Sony, Huawei, vivo, and Oppo have all experimented with RGBW sensors in the past, with Huawei’s flagships producing some excellent results.
Samsung claims that the new sensor provides class-leading low-light photographs and improved colour fidelity.
Samsung is rumoured to be working on a 50MP RGBW sensor for the Galaxy S22 series, which would be a different module than the one we’ve seen here.
