So I encountered a problem with my Sony HDR-CX405 the other day, and came up with a fix and I am posting it here so you guys can relax and enjoy your Sony Handycam again. I almost thought I bricked the thing but, there is a simple fix to this. As you can see below, there is a picture of what it looks like when the Handycam goes into some weird mode I’ve never heard of. It all started when I inserted the Micro SD card wrong.
Basically what happened was, because I inserted the Micro SDXC card wrong, the camera did not detect the Micro SD card, so it shows a message saying that there is no Micro SD card inserted and you need to insert one to start recording. After inserting the card wrong too many times, the screen goes black and basically makes it so you can’t do anything until you insert the card right.
But I did insert the card right, probably a few times. So, what you really need to do is take the battery out once, put it back in, then open the screen to turn it on, and make sure the Micro SD card is inserted correctly, there is a little sticker on the Micro SD card flap that opens showing how to put it in (thats what she said), and once you have done all of that, your Sony Handycam should boot up just fine and be ready to record videos again. Hope that helps.
