So, for awhile now I’ve been using both a curved monitor as my left screen and a flat screen as my right screen, which for me is all I need. But the question still remains on what we should be using for our setups, like what is most efficient?. I have to say that the Curved monitors used to be a luxury but now a days you can get one for pretty cheap if you look on Black Friday or Cyber Monday, or even Boxing Day at Best Buy or other big retailers. You can check out Amazon.ca’s selection of PC monitors here, just remember that link is an affiliate link so we may earn a commission from what ever you may buy.
I got my 27″ curved Samsung monitor for $150 as an “Open Box” deal and that is why it was so affordable, but when it arrived it looked like brand new and functioned perfectly fine. I did previously have a flat screen Samsung monitor (which was a 24″ sized monitor) but I spilled beer on it and it stopped working :(. So, be careful when your drinking near electronics, maybe take a break and drink your liquids some where else. So yeah, I have been using a curved monitor for awhile now and I have to say it is nice and maybe a bit more immersive, that’s for sure.
I also recently purchased a 24″ LG Gaming monitor which is flat and another monitor that is a Dell for $100 and is flat as well, and costed $100ish brand new. It’s for my other setup which is this computer that I made a post on before, that computer runs Ubuntu 24″ and I mostly use it for running WordPress and stuff, etc. So, with that setup and running Ubuntu, I would have to say it’s all I need. I honestly don’t need anything more high tech than that and having two computers with dual monitors… I’m really spoiled at this point.
Let’s say that if I had all curved monitors in my two computer setups that I would be wondering what more nerdy things I could do to my setup. I would be over-spoiled in a way. It’s kind of too much to ask. Most monitors that you buy online are just.. flat. Honestly I think that’s all you need, if your poor like me. I think that the curved monitors kind of make what your looking at a bit more focused on your vision though, it might help with the eyes a bit more, and maybe even give you slightly bigger headaches. But, I’ve become used to staring at a computer screen over time.
I’m totally used to it. So I have to say that what ever you decide is up to you and if you can afford all curved monitors in a dual monitor setup, go for it. If you want one giant 34″ curved monitor made by LG or Samsung that costs $800, go for it. Go with what you can afford and trust me, if you go with all flat screens only, you will not be disappointed!.
