Should You Buy An Apple USB-C Cord Or Get An Aftermarket One?

At one point in time, I remember hearing or reading something saying that Apple recommended people to buy their own branded cables, well, I wondered… if that was really true. I kind of laughed at them saying that, and didn’t really think it was true. Why should I spend more money on a stupid cable that they made when other USB-C cables could probably do the same job?. Even the expensive brands are cheaper than what Apple sells. Okay, let me just tell you that I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max 256GB which has a USB-C port so I can confirm that the aftermarket cables DO WORK WITH THIS PHONE!.

It’s been about 3 months that I have owned this phone, and of course I love it, it’s a great phone to have, but why do you guys have to buy everything Apple?, don’t!, there’s no need for it. Yes, sometimes I buy certain things made by Apple, like my Powerbeats wireless headphones, but when it comes to USB-C cables etc. I will buy aftermarket. If I see a good brand I will buy it, but if I see something like ONN (a Wallmart brand), I will completely avoid it despite the cheaper price.

Of course, back in 2013 when the iPhone 5 came out, we had to use their charging cables, especially for Lightning cables, because Apple invented that cable. Later in 2014, there were aftermarket Lightning cables you could buy from other brands, but soon enough Apple made it so you could only use their cables, then after that you were able to use aftermarket, but it’s just kind of stupid to me, that they would do that, like control freaks I tell ya!.

So anyways, let’s get back to the main topic, and let me tell you, I bought a USB-C to USB-A cable from Anker and I have been using it every day for awhile now. No problems at all. I can’t think of any other brand I would buy, maybe Belkin for my car charger?, that one has never failed me either!. Anyways, if your thinking of buying a USB-C cable for your iPhone, compare the prices, and I just added the two images above, comparing an Apple Store USB-C cable compared to an Amazon.ca USB-C cable.

The difference is huge. You can get two cables for half price, from Amazon.ca. Anker is the winner!. I actually already bought the Anker one, and the two cables they sent me have not failed me yet. I should also add that I still cannot find the Apple branded cables, I think the only ones they make are USB-C to USB-C, that’s all I can find for now online.
