So here’s the most easy tutorial I have ever written. So you are wondering how to put Starcraft 2 to run in Windowed Mode and your not sure where to start?, this tutorial will help you. First of all, make sure the game is installed and make sure you got the Blizzard app installed for Windows. Next thing to do is go to the game itself and click on the Game Settings button which is right next to the Play button at the bottom left, a menu will pop up and you will see Game Settings.
Next you click on “Additional command line arguments” and then type in “-Displaymode 0”, then hit Done at the bottom of that screen. Now when you actually hit Play, the game should launch in Windowed mode. For awhile now, a new patch has made it so you can’t use OBS to record gameplay of Starcraft 2, in both Windows 10 and 11. Well, putting your game in Windowed mode fixes that, which it still works to this day but, sometimes a replay is “too old” because it’s a day old and a new patch is out. Anyways, the Windowed mode fix should work for the foreseeable future (I hope) and hopefully Windows 12 supports this fix too, in the future.
Anyways, if this tutorial helps you please do not hesitate to leave a comment down below if it works for you, I would be so happy to hear that it was a success for you. Bear in mind that I also made a tutorial on this which you can watch in the video below. The tutorial explains the same thing though, just to type in that code and save the settings by hitting “Done”. If you know another way of putting SC2 in Windowed mode, please leave a comment down below because I would love to hear about it. I doubt there is another way but you never know right?.
