This was probably one of the easiest tutorials I have ever written, anyways, all you got to do in Ubuntu is just make sure you got all the latest OS updates and then you go to the Snap Store, which is a bright orange icon and you can find it by searching in the Ubuntu search bar, open it and search for Steam. Here are some books on Ubuntu if your still learning (affiliate link, we may earn a commission from what ever you may buy).
Obviously, click on that icon that says steam, then click on Install and please give this program lots of time to install because it’s not going to be a fast process. Mine took around 5 mins to fully install. There will be some updates required for the install, just let the background processes run and fully install, obviously this isn’t a virus or anything so don’t be worried. Plus, this is Linux!. After it installs, it will say Open on the Snap Store (I think it’s actually called the “App Center” now though), after it launched make sure to right click on the app icon at the far left in the Ubuntu Toolbar and Pin to your toolbar so that it stays there and you don’t have to search for it again.
Now that it’s installed, you will notice that it looks almost exactly the same as the Steam on Windows but most games will only support Windows, and for some reason I couldn’t find any filters to find specific games for Linux so you will have to do some searching for those games on Google I suppose. If you know of any such filters please leave a comment down below. Here is a search I did about games for Ubuntu but not all of them are in the Steam app after doing some searching.
Steam or Valve really needs to add a Linux section in Steam so that we know exactly what games are compatible to buy and download etc!. I guess we will just have to manually search for games on Google until then, for the time being. I should also mention that there are also games for Windows that will work on Ubuntu if you follow some tutorials out there, which can be hard work but maybe worth it if you put in the work. Check out this Youtube video below on how to find games on Ubuntu…
There are also many other videos out there on what games will work with Ubuntu natively and what games will take some work to get installed on your Ubuntu system.
