So I’ve been getting a lot of questions in regards to old Blu-Ray players and that’s if they will, in fact, play 4K discs. I believe these players will only play the discs in 1080p and not 4K as the players are only designed to play 1080p discs and DVD’s as well (which those discs are upscaled to near HD on your TV). Read below to know more.
If you just bought a 4K TV and your excited to watch 4K content, I have bad news for you but, you will indeed, need to buy a 4K Blu-Ray disc player. These cost around $150 so don’t worry about spending a whopping $500 like what the first Blu-Ray players costed. But yeah, if you want the best quality possible, stick to buying Samsung, LG, Panasonic or Sony and buy the best, most reliable player available. You will probably have to order these players online, which you can check out here on Amazon for around $150.
If you look at the difference between 1080p and 4K you will notice a little bit of a difference. The below comparison should show that. Even though I’ve already bought all my gear to support 4K playback, I normally wouldn’t care and would stick to 1080p. But because I just got into watching TV more often, and playing video games, I purchased a 65″ 4K TV with a PS4 Slim 1TB. Guess I won’t need the player.
