So here is the game I first installed when I clicked on “Free Games” on Steam. The first impression that Asphalt Legends Unite gave me was, a racing game that might be like Need For Speed?. I remember playing a game like this on my smartphone and the graphics were always good, so I thought I’d give it a whirl. I am a car guy so I thought this would be a fun game to try out considering I didn’t have to pay a cent for it, and knowing my PC could handle it. I think the total download for the install was about 8GB’s.
I’ll be honest… it’s been awhile since I’ve played a racing game like this, and I usually don’t because I just, for awhile, lost the interest for some reason. But because of that time without playing games like this, I had to make a comeback. So, during the game I noticed it gives lots of tips for the controls for the game, which was nice, but I was hoping that you could learn all of that during a “practice run”, well, they throw you into the game right away, I guess I was okay with that. Then I saw this car, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, I got excited about that and decided to keep playing the game until I was able to choose this car as one of my own. (I used to own one of these myself, loved the car).
The controls were really easy to master, as I am quite familiar with most PC games controls, and this should be pretty easy for any newcomer to learn in a matter of minutes. Anyways, I didn’t really get past the Career part of this game, as you have to pass a few races in order to even get around to playing the Multiplayer (pretty sure it doesn’t cost money either). Looking at the image below, you will see that there are some hills in this game and some ramps where you can flip the car a few times, and usually (or predictably), you can land perfectly each time as long as you maintain your speed.
So, in the first race while driving the Lancer Evolution I got 1st place, but I did feel like it was a bit too easy for me. I imagine it probably does get harder as you keep trying new races in the Career part of this game, though. Another thing is, the doodads that you pass by on the road can get in the way once in awhile, so don’t worry if you crash into anything, but if you want to avoid damage you probably should stay clear of those objects. I crashed into a few things but, I am so used to playing GTA 5 on my PS5 that it’s just a thing I do while driving. Of course not in real life haha.
There is a few import cars you can choose from, and some other American cars too, and knowing myself I always choose Import vehicles because, well, I just like them a whole lot more than American, you know?. Any who, some other cool features of this game is while racing, you can earn rewards as you progress and keep winning races. As you go through most of these tracks you will notice nice little rain drops on your windshield, just to show how much better the graphics have become. You can also pick up things while driving (like as if we’re playing Mario Cart here). While browsing through the menu’s I noticed how you really need to get used to the game, if you don’t know where your clicking I am sure you’ll eventually learn.
But for me, I just kept clicking on the car I wanted to race that it let me drive and hit Next, Next, Next, then Start Race. So, with the game being free and also providing overall a great experience for someone like me (who loves cars) I give this games a 7 out of 10, and recommend it if your bored and just want to try something new and don’t want to spend any money. You can of course find it on Steam. If you try the game and have feedback to share please leave a comment down below, I would love to hear what you think of the game!.
