So, I was trying to run Valorant on an old HP manufactured in 2016 (bought off eBaY), and was obviously having trouble running certain games because I was running Windows 11. There are two fixes for this problem and I can tell you straight up, it’s because we’re running a newer operating system on older hardware (most likely), so what you must do is, check out the image below (that looks like a screenshot of a BIOS settings page), and keep reading below.

So, below you will see there is an option to turn on Secure Boot, simply do that then hit F10 to save settings and exit. After you restart, check Windows Settings (Updates) and check for updates, and if so, install them and restart again. When you have restarted and try to launch Valorant, check to make sure that there are no updates for the game, and if so, install them and restart again.

If your still not able to play the game without getting error messages like these, I have good news for you. If your OK with running Windows 10 on this machine, go ahead and make a USB stick for Windows 10, then hit the ESC key when booting your old HP, then go to Boot Options and select the drive, hit Enter and let it boot from the USB drive. After installing Windows 10 and updating everything through Windows Update, you’ll be able to install Valorant (I mean, this is how you should do it, you could install Valorant before updating Windows 10 too).

After Valorant is installed and all your updates are installed, launch Valorant and play the game for awhile. You will probably notice smoother gameplay and less error messages (probably none at all, at least this was my experience). Either the newest Windows OS (11) is too new for this older hardware or it’s too buggy, or both. I don’t know, I just know that running Windows 10 on this machine again was able to solve all the problems (error messages) that were occuring. Enabling Secure Boot might work too, so try that first!.
