So, here is the good old HP desktop that I bought about 5 months ago!. It’s still being used until I decide to sell it or what ever. This is the post I made about it incase your curious about the background of this computer. But, this post is dedicated to the time I’ve put into getting things to work, and I have some news to report to you guys.
It is true that I decided to try Windows 11 Pro on this machine, and it turned out to be a mistake. I learned that this new OS or version of Windows is too new for older hardware. Some games work but, games like Valorant and GTA 5 just get too many error messages. If one error pops up during the gameplay, and I fix that message, another error will show up after that. So I thought to myself, “what if Windows 10 will work differently because it’s been out for so long?”, and that is what I did. I installed Windows 10 Pro on this old machine, even though the support from Microsoft will be ending in October of this year.

All the games worked, including Starcraft 2, Valorant, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Fortnite was a bit choppy. I had zero error messages during that whole process. But I learned one thing during this whole experience, is that Windows 11 is not for older hardware, if your a gamer. My actual Gaming PC from 2022 runs Windows 11 Pro like a champ, and all the games are working properly. I did have one problem with getting black spots on my monitors (I use dual monitors), while watching Youtube.com mostly, and of course that’s fixed now since the release of Windows 11 Pro (I think the developers actually did something about this problem).
My motherboard is detailed in this post, the model of this board is called the “ASUS ROG Strix B550-A Gaming AMD AM4 Zen 3“. It’s new enough to run most operating systems, except for Mac OS X of course. Anyways, incase you have the HP ProDesk 400 G3 MT Desktop, I’d recommend sticking to Windows 10 Pro, and not the newest Windows 11. Get a good Antivirus or Internet Security suite for it, and keep it up to date, don’t surf shady websites either, and then I think you should be fine from there.
