HMD Global’s up coming mobile phone, the Nokia 9 PureView, may just be equipped with an interesting combination of 5 cameras all in one phone. This is according to a leaked launch video of the device which was shared by the rumor site MySmartPrice and also the leaker Evan Blass.
The video below depicts a Nokia device with seven rear circles, all dedicated to five ZEISS cameras, with a flash, and many other sensors.
According to this promo video, the five camera setup also allows for five simultaneous shots to be captured all at once and then combined, allowing for features which include “10x more light”, and “incredible texture and detail”, and don’t forget, “a stunning crisp HDR photography”.
A lot like many other smartphones, the newest Nokia device supports refocusing within the depth of a field after a shot, though the specifications for their device doesn’t go into much detail about the benefit (if there is any) of the five cameras other than improved crispness, texture and low light performance.
This new device also features a 5.99 inch display with bezels at the top and bottom, and also an in-display fingerprint sensor, with support for Android One, and an unmodified version of Android made by Google for a more consistent Android usage experience.
Ever since Apple and many other manufacturers had introduced a dual-camera design, smartphone manufacturers have been aiming to one up each other with more and more cameras.
LG and Huawei have both introduced three cameras rear setups on their most recent mobile phones. LG’s triple cameras allow for a much different opinion or perspective because there’s a very wide angle lens, a super wide angle lens, and a telephoto zoom, with with 3D lighting effects and also some more HDR features. Samsung has also been increasing it’s camera count with the four camera system in the Galaxy A9.
Rumors are also suggesting that Apple may be planning to up the number of rear cameras in the upcoming iPhone for 2019, with perhaps a three camera system with features like improved low light performance and 3x optical zoom.
HMD Global is also said to be planning to unveil the newest five camera Nokia smartphone sometime around the end of January of 2019 .
