It has been apparent that Xiaomi has begun to celebrate a strange milestone to this day. According to a tweet by the companys global VP, Xiaomi has 700,000 users now, which means that the firm has seen just about as many sales. It’s newest milestone is the celebration of over 700k in just over three months, which doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, though it’s a great indicator of the company’s success in it’s Pocophone experiment, especially when compared to the OnePlus.
It’s hard to frame numbers like these, though there is actually one avenue of the almost ideal comparison. OnePlus sold “over a million” OnePlus One units in just eight months at their release. Xiaomi’s 700,000 was just in over three months which indicates a similar (and maybe even slightly better) volume of sales.
Boom! We’ve got 700,000 #POCOF1 users across the globe.
POCO means little in Spanish. Glad to see the POCO community has become so big globally in a matter of months. 🙏

As they are direct competitors, the comparison and these numbers could be a bit concerning for OnePlus. It may not be a problem for now after all, as OnePlus broke a million sales for the OnePlus 6 in just less than a month earlier this year. Though everyone has started somewhere, and these numbers could demonstrate Xiaomi making an even bigger splash with the Pocophone’s debut than the original OnePlus One did and OnePlus had the advantage of the US market availability.
Curiously as well, the POCO Launcher also shows over a million downloads on it’s Play Store listing, so quite a bit of people must be using their software without it’s associated phone if Xiaomi is claiming only 700,000 units sold already.
Driving these sales is the obvious value the Pocophone poses, with it’s generally flagship level specifications at a rediculous, but $300 price tag. AP’s Ria El Khoury had plenty of positive things to say in her own review, at least, outside of MIUI, which is apparently still pretty bad. I actually ordered one for myself, and it’s due here in the next two days, so look forward to anything more, we may have to say on the subject. In the meantime however, 700,000 in unit sales speaks for itself.
