Today, Apple seeded their third beta of an upcoming iOS 12.1.1 update to developers, which is just over one week after they seeded their second beta after the release of iOS 12.1, which is a major update which brought in multiple new features to iOS.
These registered developers can also download the newest iOS 12.1.1 beta update from Apple’s developer center or through over the air once the proper configuration profile has been installed from the Developer Center.
The iOS 12.1.1 update actually reintroduces the feature which lets you take a Live Photo while on a FaceTime call, and it also brings improvements for the FaceTime user interface.
After the update, FaceTime features a reworked buttom bar which includes quick access buttons for muting a phone call and flipping the camera. Sliding up on the bottom bar will also bring up additional options with conversation participants. Previously, FaceTime users were also required to tap on the three dots to access a secondary menu with these features.
With the iPhone XR, iOS 12.1.1 allows Haptic Touch to be used to expand notifications on the Lock Screen. The iPhone XR owners are able to long press on a notification banner to see additional content, much like other iPhone users can 3D Touch on a notification to expand it all.
iOS 12.1.1 also adds a whole new option in for Apple News to hide the sidebar on the iPad when your using the application in landscape mode, which introduces an option to turn off the physical SIM in the phone in favor of the eSIM, which also tweaks the icon of the Apple Watch app so it looks like the Apple Watch Series 4.
Update: Apple has also made a new public beta of iOS 12.1.1 available to it’s public beta testers.
